Interrotron

Note: Colorado Prompter would like to acknowledge (and thank) Errol Morris, the inventor of the Interrotron concept. The Interrotron is a very clever, highly effective way for an interviewer to intimately interview someone. In a sense, almost emulating a face to face conversation between the interviewer and interviewee.

With an Interrotron setup, a prompter is set up in front of the main camera lens. As normal, an interviewee will sit in front of this camera/prompter set up, looking directly into the camera. This camera image of the interviewee will be sent to another prompter/camera setup where the interviewer (oftentimes a director or producer) will be able to see the interviewee on their prompter set up while directly looking into the camera in front of them. And in return, the camera on the interviewer will be sent to the interviewee prompter so the interviewee can see the interviewer.

Complicated, maybe, but worth the set up! Colorado Prompter has witnessed countless intimate interviews captured through the Interrotron set up. Colorado Prompter will provide (2)
teleprompters for an Interrotron setup. Let’s discuss ahead of time what cable feeds need to go between the cameras and prompters. A camera for the interviewer can also be provided.

It’s also EASY and QUICK to switch between an Interrotron image in the interviewee prompter
to scripted words, if needed! That’s why Colorado Prompter likes to be on set for an Interrotron
setup. If you need a Colorado prompter, either with or without the Interrotron setup,
Colorado Prompter can provide the best results.
